A well filled and very interesting record. The Tchaikovsky items are as welcome as they are rare - the duet for Romeo & Juliet was intended for the opera that he dreamed of writing on the subject and its main theme is based on the famous Fantasy Overture of 1860. After Tchaikovsky's death his friend and pupil, Sergei Taneyev found a sketch of the scene intended for the opera that was never written and completed and scored the duet, which received its premiere in 1894.
