The band recorded \u003cem\u003eCowards\u003c\/em\u003e at \u003cstrong\u003eChurch Studios\u003c\/strong\u003e in Crouch End with Mercury prize winning producers \u003cstrong\u003eMarta Salogni \u003c\/strong\u003eand\u003cstrong\u003e Grace Banks\u003c\/strong\u003e. On additional production is longtime shifu and collaborator \u003cstrong\u003eDan Carey\u003c\/strong\u003e, who recorded the band’s first two albums. The record was mixed in Seattle by John McEntire, before being compressed by the rich analogue chain of Heba Kadry’s mastering in Brooklyn, New York. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003eSquid have come a long way since forming in 2016 as an instrumental jazz band for a monthly night in Brighton. Their debut album \u003cem\u003eBright Green Field\u003c\/em\u003e (2021) arrived as the world was starting to open up after the pandemic and they broke into the top 5 in the UK chart.
