Starting off as three ‘D’ members; \u003cb\u003eDenise Roughan, David Saunders \u003c\/b\u003eand\u003cb\u003e Dominic Stones\u003c\/b\u003e, they were very quickly joined by a fourth ‘D’ — \u003cb\u003eDavid Mitchell\u003c\/b\u003e. Despite the supergroup status, the band didn't originally intend to be anything more than a casual good-time band, hanging around for some drinks and laughs. Regardless of this ethos, \u003cb\u003eThe\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cb\u003e3Ds\u003c\/b\u003e very quickly got too good to stay on the sidelines, and eventually the group got picked up by \u003cb\u003eFlying\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cb\u003eNun\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cb\u003eRecords\u003c\/b\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 9.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; color: black; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\"\u003eFast-forward to 1994; a big year for \u003cb\u003eThe\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cb\u003e3Ds\u003c\/b\u003e. Having recently released two full-length albums, \u003ci\u003e‘\u003cb\u003eHellzapoppin’\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/i\u003e (1992) and ‘\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eThe Venus Trail\u003c\/i\u003e’\u003c\/b\u003e (1993), the band left New Zealand’s shores for a tour of Australia — where they performed tracks live-to-air at the \u003cb\u003eABC’s\u003c\/b\u003e ‘\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eTriple J\u003c\/i\u003e’\u003c\/b\u003e radio station — then spent three months on the road in both the USA (with \u003cb\u003eSuperchunk, Pavement \u003c\/b\u003eand\u003cb\u003e Guided By Voices\u003c\/b\u003e) and the UK, where they recorded four songs for a coveted \u003cb\u003ePeel\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cb\u003eSession\u003c\/b\u003e on 24 April, 1994, and were widely lauded by the UK music press.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 9.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; color: black; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\"\u003eA snapshot in time, this special release features nine different live tracks from the band’s previous releases (\u003cb\u003e\u003ci\u003eHellzapoppin, The Venus Trail, Fish Tales\/Swarthy Songs for Swabs\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/b\u003e) — with some tracks featured \u003ci\u003etwice\u003c\/i\u003e on the 2024 CD release.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-size: 9.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;\"\u003eThe centre artwork on the front cover of the album is an original \u003cb\u003eDavid\u003c\/b\u003e \u003cb\u003eMitchell\u003c\/b\u003e drawing, and the inner sleeve features photos, also taken by David.
