By the time of \u003cstrong\u003eA Dream Is All We Know \u003c\/strong\u003eand the future Michael classic \u003cstrong\u003e\"My Golden Years\u003c\/strong\u003e\", \u003cstrong\u003eThe Lemon Twigs'\u003c\/strong\u003e new era had truly begun. And now comes their third album for Captured Tracks,\u003cstrong\u003e Look For Your Mind!, \u003c\/strong\u003ewhich underneath it's poppy exterior contains an undercurrent of paranoia and suspicion.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOpening with title track \u003cstrong\u003e\"Look For Your Mind\",\u003c\/strong\u003e a jangly Michael number, the listener is introduced to the guitar-driven harmony sound that is the centering theme of the album. Much of what was achieved on \u003cstrong\u003eA Dream Is All We Know \u003c\/strong\u003eis here, just more laser focused. It's classic Twigs, indebted to the golden age of guitar pop, but in no way slavish. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNew to this album is the inclusion of live Twigs \u003cstrong\u003eReza Matin (\u003c\/strong\u003edrums) and \u003cstrong\u003eDanny Ayala\u003c\/strong\u003e (bass), as well as \u003cstrong\u003eEva Chambers of Tchotchke,\u003c\/strong\u003e to the rhythm section. With the brothers previously having handled everything in the studio themselves, this shows a newfound sense of freedom. \"\u003cstrong\u003eGather Round\" \u003c\/strong\u003eis one of \u003cstrong\u003eLook For Your Mind!'s \u003c\/strong\u003ebigger productions. A Brian song with joyous orchestrations, it feels like a turn of the century campaign song. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003e\"Every time we try to write something that's completely straightforward, we can't help adding an element which comes out of left field.\"\u003c\/em\u003e explains Brian. Brian's \u003cstrong\u003e\"Fire And Gold\"\u003c\/strong\u003e starts off with a ringing power pop riff before turning everything inside out. It's also the first song on the album to feature the powerhouse drummer \u003cstrong\u003eReza Matin,\u003c\/strong\u003e whom the brothers favorably compare to\u003cstrong\u003e Big Star's Jody Stephens, The Raspberries' Jim Bonfanti, and The Move's Bev Bevan\u003c\/strong\u003e. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eClosing side one on the vinyl record is Michael's beautiful ballad, \"\u003cstrong\u003eMean To Me\",\u003c\/strong\u003e with vocals \u003cstrong\u003eThe Beach Boys \u003c\/strong\u003ewould be happy to have committed to wax 60 years ago, care of Michael, Brian and Danny.
